Ron Blackburn, who had a brief career with the Pirates as a pitcher, died on April 29, 1998 in Morganton, N.C.

He finished 2-1 in 1958 for Pittsburgh with a 3.39 ERA in 63.2 innings. In 1959, he finished 1-1 in 26 games with a 3.65 ERA in 44.1 innings.

He collected three hits in 12 at-bats including a home run.
