William C. "Bud" Black, a pitcher who won two games in the major leagues in the 1950s, died on Oct. 2, 2005 in St. Louis, Mo.
Black was just 19 years old when he made his debut with the Detroit Tigers. He pitched for the team in 1952, 1955 and 1956. His career totals include a 2-3 record and a 4.22 in 32 innings pitched. He started five games and pitched one complete game.
Black signed with the St. Louis Browns in 1950 and played in the team's farm system. In August 1952, he was traded, along with Jim Delsing, Ned Garver and Dave Madison, to the Tigers for Dick Littlefield, Marlin Stuart, Don Lenhardt and Vic Wertz.
