Joe Becker, a catcher who played in 40 games for the Indians, died on Jan. 11, 1998 in Sunset Hills, Mo.

Becker was 28 years old in 1936 when he played in 22 games for Cleveland, hitting .180 with a home run and 11 RBI. The next season, he appeared in 18 more games, hitting .333 in 33 at-bats and driving in two runs.
