John Babich signed with the San Francisco Seals in 1930, but didn't make it to the majors until 1934 when he debuted with the Brooklyn Dodgers. In two seasons with the Dodgers, he finished with a 14-25 record. In 1935, Babich struck out Babe Ruth three times in a game. In 1936, he pitched in 6 innings for the Boston Braves before his elbow gave out. Babich made it back to the Major Leagues in 1940 with the Philadelphia Athletics and put together his best season in the majors. He finished with a 14-13 record with a 3.73 ERA in 229 innings. He finished his Major League career in 1941 with the As and became a minor league player, coach and manager. |
